About The Invisible Gallery

The Invisible Gallery began with a space that did not exist.

A container for an evolving artistic practice.

The Invisible Gallery is a container for an evolving artistic practice.

It began with a gap. I was making work, but I did not yet have a physical space in which to exhibit it. Rather than waiting for one, I began to question why the gallery had to be a fixed place at all.

Technology was already a language I understood, so I used it to create a space where the work could exist, be encountered, and continue evolving.

From there, the question became larger. What if a gallery did not need to be defined by a physical location, a single medium, or even a fixed idea of what a gallery should be?

The word invisible refers to what exists but is not always easy to see.

An emotion. A thought. An intuition. A connection. A shift in consciousness. Something internal, spiritual, subconscious, or simply overlooked.

The gallery exists as a space to make some of those things perceptible.

A gallery does not have to be a place.

Sometimes that may happen through technology. Sometimes through an image, an object, an installation, a physical experience, or something that does not have a clear form yet. The medium can change because the gallery is not defined by the medium.

It is also not meant to exist only on the web.

The web is where The Invisible Gallery currently lives, but it is one manifestation of the gallery rather than its boundary. The gallery can move between digital and physical spaces, appear temporarily, take different forms, or exist wherever the work needs it to exist.

There is intentionally no fixed model for what belongs here.

The Invisible Gallery is a space for experimentation, for questions that don't have answers yet, and for work that may change as those questions change.

It is less about defining what a gallery is and more about creating a space where something not yet visible can become visible.

A container that can change with what it contains.

A gallery still becoming.
